Local Cat Lady With 37 Cats Claims They’re All “Certified Construction Workers”

Will cats replace workers?

In an astonishing twist that has left the construction world scratching its head, Local Cat Lady Sarah Thompson, self-proclaimed “whisker foreman,” is claiming her 37 rescue cats are now ready to join the workforce—construction workforce, that is.

“I’ve always believed in the potential of my cats,” Sarah says, perched atop a stack of blueprints, her many feline companions napping lazily around her. “Why should human workers have all the fun? My cats have been digging, hauling, and supervising for weeks. They’re practically foremen themselves.”

Sarah, whose cozy suburban home is now more of a construction zone, insists her cats are no mere bystanders in the building process. From an orange tabby she calls “Jackhammer” to a black-and-white moggie named “Cement Mixer,” the cats are said to perform a variety of tasks traditionally handled by humans.

“I’ve seen them stack bricks, haul lumber, and even operate a small crane,” Sarah continues, as one of her cats yawns dramatically on a pile of drywall. “It’s honestly just a matter of training. Anyone can do it with enough time and treats.”

Construction workers from Thompson’s company, Top-Tier Builders, are said to be skeptical but intrigued by Sarah’s claims. “Look, we’ve been building skyscrapers for 20 years, but I’ve never had to work alongside a team of cats. Honestly, I think she’s lost her mind,” says foreman Dave, one of Sarah’s more traditional colleagues. “I guess they’re better at inspecting the foundation than some of my guys, but that’s only because they spend all day sleeping on the job.”

Despite the doubts, Sarah’s cats have reportedly played a crucial role in her firm’s latest project: an upscale high-rise under construction in the heart of downtown. According to the project manager, “If it weren’t for the meticulous way Sarah’s cats inspect the grout work, we’d be way behind schedule. I’ve never seen cats so dedicated to quality assurance.”

While there’s no official certification process for “construction cats,” Sarah’s claims to have given each of her felines an unofficial training regimen. “Each cat has a specific role. Some are for quality control, others work as manual laborers, and a few of them are in charge of the paperwork. They all know what they’re doing.”

Local unions have expressed some concern over this new wave of feline contractors. “We’re not sure how to classify these cats,” says Martha Simmons, a union representative. “Do they get health benefits? Paid time off? Are they eligible for worker’s comp if they fall off a scaffold?”

Sarah, however, is undeterred. “Look, I give them tuna, they get treats, and they’re treated like family. If they want to take a nap between jobs, who am I to stop them?”

In a strange but heartwarming development, Sarah’s 37 cats have, apparently, not only become integral to the construction process but have also gained a bit of fame in the process. The internet is abuzz with stories of Sarah and her furry team, and she’s even launched a YouTube channel where the cats demonstrate their “construction skills.” The channel has already gained millions of views, with one video, “Cats Operating Power Tools: A Masterclass,” reaching viral status.

As for Sarah’s ultimate goal? “I’m just trying to show the world that anyone, or any cat, can contribute. We don’t need to limit ourselves to what’s traditional. The future of construction is furry, and it’s coming fast.”

In the meantime, Sarah and her team of cats continue to build, one paw at a time.
