Local Rodents Outraged as Warehouse Automation Ends Free Lunch Program

LOUISVILLE, KY—In a devastating blow to the local rodent community, BlueStar’s investment in warehouse automation has ended the golden era of free snacks, loose crumbs, and the occasional unguarded vending machine raid.

The Kentucky-based distributor recently partnered with French automation experts Exotec to outfit its facilities with 20 Skypod robots, thousands of bins, and a hyper-efficient picking system. While the upgrades have been celebrated by humans for reducing retrieval times and slashing warehouse traffic by 60%, the region's mice and rats are far less enthused.

“Back in the good old days, humans would drop a bag of chips or leave a sandwich crust under a desk,” lamented one disgruntled rodent, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of further persecution. “Now it’s just spotless floors and these creepy robots that don’t spill a thing!”

Reports suggest the rodent community has convened nightly underground meetings to address the crisis. Plans for organized protests outside the warehouse have been discussed, but insiders say morale is low, with many doubting they can match the efficiency of BlueStar’s new systems.

BlueStar’s EMEA Chief Operating Officer Manel Baranera remains unmoved by the backlash. “We’ve significantly enhanced our logistical capabilities,” he said in a statement. “The rodents’ feelings were not a KPI.”

In the meantime, local pest control companies report a rise in mouse applications for unemployment benefits and a noticeable uptick in rats “trying to learn coding.” The long-term implications for rodent society remain unclear, but experts agree this marks the end of an era for warehouse freeloaders everywhere.

As for BlueStar, the company has declined further comment, although sources say Skypod robots are programmed to remain unapologetic.
